Pastor Gene Folder
Associate Minister

The Rev. H. Eugene (Gene) Folden, Jr., Ph.D. is one of our two, half-time, associate pastors and has served our church in a variety  of capacities since 1986 (full-time associate from 1986 through 1990).  His duties at Linworth include pastoral care to the ill, elderly, and homebound, preaching, leading Bible Study and teaching adult Sunday School Classes, as well as generally assisting in the day-to-day activities of the church.  Gene’s full-time non-church position is Director of Academic Studies and Assistant Professor of Human Development in the Department of Human Development and Family Science, College of Human Ecology, at OSU.  At OSU, Gene teaches courses in Social Gerontology, Lifespan Analysis, and Marriage and Family Development.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religion, Philosophy and History from Muskingum College; a Master of Divinity from The Methodist Theological School in Ohio; a Master of Gerontological Studies from Miami University in Ohio; and a Doctor of Philosophy in Human Development from the Ohio State University.  He is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator, and serves on the Board of Trustees of Wesley Glen Retirement Community.  In his free time, Gene enjoys collecting early Ohio Furniture and Art by Ohio Artists, as well as working in his garden.  Gene was ordained in the United Methodist Church in 1984.
