Mission Update for June
Help Needed for New Life Dinner
Linworth United Methodist will host the Sunday Dinner at New Life on July 27 and help is needed. Call Esther Hunter (336-8485) if you would like to help.

Thanks from Jackson Area Ministries:
Rev. Bob Davis wrote thanking us for contributing 510 packets of seeds to the Jackson Area Ministries. He said, “Jackson Area Ministries will be enlarging both the territory and the number of participants this growing season. We envision this summer helping 3,000 participants produce their own vegetables and flowers. When we launched this project in the early 1970’s we had no idea that the acceptance of the concept would be of this magnitude. I want to add this word of appreciation to our thank you.”
He sent a report detailing 2,928 participants planting gardens at 21 sites in 19 counties. In addition to the seeds they received, they bought 21,456 tomato plants and 50,100 pounds of seed potatoes They receive support from churches in 34 States.

Habitat Launches Rehab of Foreclosed Properties
In partnership with the City of Columbus, the Hilliard Adopt A House Program has begun rehabbing 5 houses on South Harris Avenue. Linworth participates with the Hilliard UMC Habitat Adopt A House Program. The rehab project will last from mid April to July. This project will put valuable homes back on the market for low income families and enable Habitat to earn $18,000 from the City that will be put toward building Habitat Houses. If you are interested in volunteering to work on this or other projects please contact Mike Torok.

New Life Needs Your Clothing Donations
Please donate new or gently used personal items for the New Life outreach project. There is a great need for personal items: socks, women’s underwear, men’s underwear, back packs, and book bags. Sad as it sounds some people need these back packs to carry around their only possessions. Bring these items to the church office labeled for New Life and we will make sure they get there.

Recycling
Many of you faithfully use the Linworth recycling bin. You tote newspapers, magazines, and used computer paper from home and from work. We thank you for that effort. Abitibi Bowater has challenged us to increase our paper recycling. If we recycle 20% more paper than we did last year during the 4 months (May 2008 - August 2008) of the program period, we can earn a bonus of $500. If we recycle 25% more paper during this time period, we will earn a bonus of $1,000. So the recycling goals for May through August are:
32.51 tons ( 65,020 lbs.) for $500.
33.86 tons ( 67,720 lbs.) for $1,000
