Dear LUMC Members and Friends:
The Marketing and Future Planning Team has been meeting two to three times a month for over a year. Part of their work was to create a survey to provide input on how we as a church body are doing in living out our mission statement of “Creating Disciples for Jesus Christ by Creating Community, Growing in Christ, and Serving the World.” Response to the request for feedback was strong, with 222 people completing the survey.
The Marketing and Future Planning Team then developed a series of recommendations based upon the results of the survey as well as additional research and analysis the committee conducted. These recommendations were discussed with the Administrative Council at both the August and September meetings. The Administrative Council approved and supported the recommendations made by the Marketing and Future Planning Team at the September meeting.
Issue 2 of the recommendations relates to the opportunity to improve, as a church body, how we are “Creating Community” by creating a more welcoming atmosphere for members and visitors to LUMC. There were six recommendations under Issue 2 that were approved. The fourth recommendation addresses the issue of reducing congestion in the main hallway and parking lot between the 9:00 a.m. and the 10:15 a.m. services by moving the start of the 9:00 a.m. service to 8:45 a.m., as well as a more intentional focus on holding each service to 60 minutes. This change of worship time will begin Sunday, January 6, 2008.
For the complete report given by the Marketing and Future Planning Team visit our website at: www.linworthumc.org or pick up a copy in the church office. The Administrative Council, for implementation and evaluation of all the approved recommendations, will develop a time line.
As a church body we agreed to support these recommendations. We look forward to working together with the church body to implement this plan as we all strive to help LUMC live our mission statement to “Creating Disciples for Jesus Christ, by Creating Community, Growing in Christ, and Serving the World.”
