Children

Linworth United Methodist Church's children's ministry, Kids for Christ, is dedicated to creating disciples for Jesus Christ, one child at a time.

Our Philosophy of Education

We believe that each child is a unique creation of God, to be loved and valued according to Christ's example. We believe that through the promises made a baptism, we are called to minister to the children and families at LUMC and to all of God's children. We believe that Christian education serves to teach, nurture and empower children and families in the Christian tradition so that they will become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ, both within and beyond the walls of the church. We believe that the teachers of our children need and deserve our continuing respect, support and love.

Sunday School Curriculum

Our infant and toddler nurseries are designed to offer a safe and caring atmosphere for our smallest members. Older toddlers, twos and young threes will have short, developmentally appropriate lessons based on Bible stories. This may include the use of picture books, puppets or finger plays, and simple art activities. Teachers encourage the continued development of social and self-help skills as children learn more about their world and their faith

Three-year-olds through sixth-graders will be using Group Publishing's Hands-On Bible Curriculum. The curriculum offers memorable, age-appropriate lessons that help kids apply scripture to their everyday lives. The curriculum is coordinated so that all ages/grades are studying the same Bible lessons at the same time, which encourages families with children of various ages to have "faith talks" on the way home from church and throughout the week.

Elementary classes are divided by grade level in order to better meet the needs of each child. Rotating teaching teams present exciting, hands-on lessons that help children relate scripture to their everyday lives.

All of our teachers and childcare providers have completed a screening process in compliance with Linworth's Safe Sanctuaries Policy.

Club 56

Club 56 meets on various Sunday evenings from 6 - 8  pm during the school year. Club 56 does not meet on a regular basis during the summer.  A week long VBS experience is designed especially for this age group that is mission driven with a pool party at the end of the week. See church calendar on the website for specific dates.

Club 56 has been designed for 5th and 6th graders as they prepare to move into Linworth's Youth Ministry program, Xtreme Impact. These older elementary kids come together for fun, fellowship and devotion on various Sundays (usually 2 times a month). They participate in special events throughout the year as well as mission projects serving Jesus and our communities around Columbus.
